d. Teaching Kit on Chemical Testing for New Senior Secondary Curriculum

The Innovation and Technology Commission and the Council have commissioned Hong Kong Baptist University to develop a teaching kit for use by senior secondary Chemistry teachers. The purpose is to raise the awareness of testing and certification among secondary students through introducing basic chemical testing concepts in class.

e. Student Competitions

To raise students’ awareness of the importance of testing and certification service, the Council and Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education (HKASME) co-organised the Digi-Science Video Competition for Hong Kong Secondary Schools 2017-18 with “Testing Science for Improving the Quality of Life” chosen as the theme. Students were encouraged to communicate scientific ideas to the public through creative experiments. The competition was well received with a total of 25 entries submitted from 19 schools. The award presentation ceremony was held on 28 April 2018. The work of the awardees can be accessed at the website of HKASME. Click here.

For the second year in a row, the Council co-organised the “HKCTC Special Award for Outstanding Project in Testing” with the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association (HKNGCA) in the Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Competition 2017-18, hoping to introduce the concepts of testing and certification and promote them among local young people. The judging panel and award presentation ceremony were held on 14 and 15 April 2018 respectively. The list of awardees can be accessed at the website of HKNGCA. Click here (Chinese version only).

f. Briefing Forum (31 May 2010)

The Council submitted a Report to Government with recommendations to promote further development of the industry on 31 March 2010, and Government has accepted all the recommendations. On 31 May 2010, the Council held a briefing forum on its Report to brief the industry, major stakeholders and the general public on the recommendations.

g. Consultation Forum (27 November 2009)

The Council held a consultation forum on 27 November 2009 to collect views from the testing and certification industry, major stakeholders and the general public on the opportunities and challenges faced by the industry and the development strategy for strengthening the capacity and capability of the sector.
